This section will surely become longer and longer as time goes by, but at this point I would like to thank my friends, family and partner who gave me an encouragement to start writing this story, especially my Japanese host parents who, like true Pan-Asianists of our time, took care of many foreign students in Japan as host family and spent several years teaching Japanese to Chinese students in China to foster Sino-Japanese relationship; Gerard Clancy who make it possible for me to focus on writing; and Ei and Stephan Hardeman who provide support with access to library and journals.
